[FEATURE] Instrumental Chamber Music Competition – MYMF 2012

UCSI FIRST YEAR STUDENTS WIN FIRST PRIZE IN THE INSTRUMENTAL CHAMBER MUSIC COMPETITION OF MALAYSIAN YOUTH MUSIC FESTIVAL 2012.

First year students Daymi Cheung (violin), Tan Wei Harn (flute) and Eileen Khoo (piano) were the first prize winner in the MYOF Instrumental Ensemble – Age 18 & above category. The competition was held in Putrajaya Marriott Hotel & Spa, I0I Resort City on the 15th September 2012. The Trio performed the first two movements of the Trio Sonata in D major by Augustin Reinhard Stricken (1680 – 1718) and Nocturne from Five Pieces, Opus 56 by César Cui (1835 – 1918).
Since 2007, The Malaysian Youth Music Festival is an annual event organized by the Malaysian Youth Orchestra Foundation (MYOF). The foundation aims to promote positive musical activities and help improve the performing standards amongst music students through friendly music competition during the music festival. Competition categories available are – solo performances in various instruments and voice from beginner to post Diploma levels, ensemble performances and choir groups. Apart from competitions, the festival also highlights workshops and performances by experts.
This year’s judges were Roger Lord, Eric Leong, Oh Yann Shie, Shuenda Wong, Liu Jian, Dr Chan Cheong Jan, Robert Sang – Ung Choi, Kevin Field, Su Tzu Yuan, Eprodito G. Bartolome and Chun Ming Yang
