tracy wongTracy Wong Wei Wen is currently the Assistant Academy Director of Young Choral Academy (YCA) Malaysia. Under YCA, she takes on the role as Music Director for YCA Youth Chamber Choir (Naturally Vocal), Assistant Director for two-time BOH Cameronian Arts Award winner Young Kuala Lumpur (KL) Singers and Senior Tutor for Kuala Lumpur Children’s Choir (KLCC).

Tracy is also one-fourth of Caipifruta Vocal Quartet, an a cappella vocal ensemble which regularly performs pop and jazz vocal music in Malaysia as well as internationally. Caipifruta has represented Malaysia in the international choral competition scene for the past 3 years by obtaining Gold Diplomas at the World Choir Games in China 2010  and silver medals at the World Choir Championships in Graz, Austria 2011 in the Pop and Jazz categories. Caipifruta has recently been nominated for Best Vocal Group Performance at Anugerah Industri Muzik 18 (Malaysian Music Industry Awards), 2011.

Tracy represents Malaysia for various international choral events such as Asia Pasific Youth Choir (Macau 2011 & Beijing 2012), The Chamber Choir of Asia (Manila, 2010), Asia Pacific Choral Summit (China, 2009) and The 1st International Forum – Voice, Youth, and Arts Management (France, 2008). She is also the festival tutor for The 9th Malaysian Choral Eisteddfod 2011.

As a choral tutor, Tracy led Malaysian choirs to compete internationally – YCA Youth Chamber Choir competed at 1st International Choir Festival & Competition, Vietnam 2011 (Gold Diploma & Category Champion, Mixed Youth Voices Category), Kuala Lumpur Children’s Choir competed at World Choir Games, China 2010 (Gold Diploma, Children’s Choir Category) and Young KL Singers competed at World Choir Games, China 2010 (Gold Diploma, Folklore Category). Back in Malaysia, Tracy has also tutored numerous Malaysian primary and secondary school choirs who emerged champions in district, state and national level choir competitions.

In 2010, Tracy made her debut as Musical Director for ADAM The Musical, which was staged at The Actor’s Studio, Kuala Lumpur.

Ipoh-born Tracy Wong began her studies in music with Chong Li Han, Lai Mei Kuen, Ng Chong Lim, Geneviene Wong, Susanna Saw and Ian Lim. She studied in University College Sedaya International (UCSI) and later graduated from the University of Newcastle Australia with high distinctions and was awarded the Madge Hoy Prize for the student with the best final year pass in Piano Studies. She was under the tutelage of Ann O’Hearn and Christopher Allan for piano performance and classical singing respectively. Tracy also became a member of The University of Newcastle Chamber Choir and competed in various competitions which saw them emerging as Australian National Champions for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) Choir of the Year 2006.

Tracy tutors various school choirs in KL and Ipoh, and teaches piano and singing. She is also a vocalist, an accompanist, a choral arranger as well as a composer.
