Eddie Wen

Eddie Wen born and raise in PJ, started his trumpet playing during his high school. He was the trumpet principal, Brass Section leader, vice president of Catholic High School band, and trumpet principal of PJ Youth Symphonic band (PJYSB). At the age of 16, He began to perform with the Kuala Lumpur Symphony Orchestra & the National Symphony orchestra. In 1997, He was feature as a soloist for PJYSB pre Japan concert which the band was participate in the 7th Japan International Youth Musical (JIYM) in Shizuoka, Japan.

Eddie WenIn 1998, He was selected to participate in the Commonwealth Youth Orchestra as a co-principal trumpet player and performs at the Dewan Philharmonic at KLCC. in the same year, He was invited to tutor the Peninsular Youth Symphony band camp’s trumpet section. In 2001 he perform with Greg B. Lyons’ band Biophonics and study under him. Since then, he focus mainly in jazz and modern music.

Currently He is leading his own band, Urban Tribes, and he is also a member of Junkofunk, David Gomes Sextet, Greg Lyons’ Nonet, Biophonics, Eric Li’s Jazz Latino, Julian Chan’s BOPLICITY, Inner Voices, RTM Big Band and the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra.

At the same time, He now lecture at UCSI music faculty as part time Trumpet Tutor & Ensemble Lecturer. Regularly performs & sessions with Sheila Majid, Ning Baizura, Reshmonu, Dayang Nurfaizah, Sharizan Bohan just to name a few.

He tours with some of the best musician in asia, which he was touring with the Four Asian Divas , Frances Yip, Anita Sarawak, Maria Cordero & Elisa Chan in asia. Also tour with taiwanese artist/song writer Jonathan Lee , Fish Leong, Emil Chow, Silva Chang, & Jeff Chang, Sheila Majid, Zainal Abidin…etc

He is now touring with Jeff Chang – “空出来的时间 – 张信哲 – 世界巡回演唱会”
