Stephen Tok completed his Bachelor of Music degree in both Piano and Voice Performance at West Virginia University and his Master of Music degree in Performance (Collaborative Piano) at Bowling Green State University in the United States. He is also an alumnus of UCSI University. While abroad, he was awarded with performance grants and assistantships in accompanying from both institutions to refine his skills as a classical pianist, singer and a coach-accompanist. Stephen has performed and taught in the US; giving solo and collaborative recitals, and working with students ranging from elementary school level to university level.
In addition to his current teaching position at UCSI University, Stephen serves as the academic manager and a music instructor at StART Society (a non-profit organization that provides fine and performing arts classes to under-privileged children). He is also a senior voice and piano instructor at Bentley Music Academy. When time permits, Stephen free-lances as an accompanist and a vocal/diction coach within the Klang Valley. In 2012, Stephen received an award for Best Musical Direction at the BOH Cameronian Arts Awards for the Malaysian première of the musical The Last Five Years by Jason Robert Brown.
