[FEATURE] UCSIU Contemporary Ensemble

UCSI Contemporary Ensemble_KLIJF

Officially known as the Contemporary Ensemble in 2013, this group serves as the main musical collective of the Contemporary Music Program in the School of Music, UCSI University. The ensemble performs from a diverse repertoire that leans toward contemporary jazz and its various permutations. The current lineup consists of guitarist Wong Wei-Ming, drummer Aubry Chong, bassist Tan Jen Wei, pianist Leroy Lee, saxophonist Ho Kit Teng and percussionist/vocalist Jonathan Wong. Soulful lead vocalist Frances Tsen completes this collection of exciting young musicians.

The ensemble will be performing at the upcoming KL International Jazz Festival 2013 on 14 September 2013. They are part of a star-studded line-up in the who’s who of jazz including Lee Ritenour, The Carl Orr Quartet, The Christy Smith Quartet and many more international jazz musicians.
