Hoo Sim Li

Sim Li'sSim Li Hoo began her music education at the age of five. As a scholarship recipient of The Star Education Fund, she pursued her undergraduate studies at the UCSI University under the tutelage of Hee Jung Choi. She graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in Classical Music with Honors, and upon graduation, she was chosen to be the pianist of Malaysian Philharmonic Youth Orchestra (MPYO).

Sim Li was awarded a graduate assistantship to pursue her Masters of Music degree in Piano Performance at Miami University, under the tutelage of Dr. Siok Lian Tan. She was a graduate teaching assistant and taught functional piano classes and accompanied vocal students in the Department of Music. She was also the official accompanist for the Miami University Chamber Singers and has appeared with the choir at Carnegie Hall in New York in October 2012. Sim Li has participated in numerous piano master classes, including one conducted by the world renowned pianist, Menahem Pressler.

Her love for the society is also reflected through various voluntary works, where she coaches and participates as a member of the Dhammaduta Youth Choir, a Buddhist youth choir group that performs at charity events.  Sim Li is eager to share her passion for music in the local music industry in Malaysia, and is now a full-time lecturer at UCSI University.
