Carolyn Lo

Carolyn Lo May Yeeng is from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She graduated from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio with a Master in Piano Performance degree under the guidance of Dr. Siok Lian Tan in May 2011. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree in piano Performance from the University of Newcastle, Australia. Her past teachers include Miss Tara Subramaniam, Professor Snezana Panovska, Mr. Loo Band Hean and Mr Rickie Oui. In 2003, she was awarded the Licentiate diploma in Piano Performance (LRSM) with distinction from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, London. She also received a Fellowship in Piano Performance (FTCL) with an additional Excellence Award for her outstanding performance from the London Trinity College of Music in 2006.

Carolyn is a recipient of the 2005 and 2006 President Award from the UCSI University for her excellence in academic studies and extra-curricular. In addition, she has won numerous piano awards including first prize of the 2005 University of Wolverhampton (U.K.) Piano Competition; ‘Gold Prize’ for solo piano performance and chamber music categories at the 2007 Asia International Piano Academy, Festival, and Competition held in Seoul, South Korea. She won the 2009/10 Miami University Concerto Competition and was a featured soloist with the Miami University Symphony Orchestra in April 2010.

Apart from solo piano, Carolyn is also active chamber musician and collaborative pianist. She has performed in various music festivals, recitals, and competitions in Singapore, Taiwan, Korea, Macau and Malaysia. In August 2009, she was invited to participate in the First Asia Grand Piano Concert held in Kuala Lumpur.

She was an adjunct lecturer at the UCSI University in Malaysia, where she taught applied piano from 2007-2009. During her studies at Miami University, Carolyn was a graduate assistant in piano, whereby she taught undergraduate students class functional piano (group piano).

Upon graduation, Carolyn has been invited to give master classes locally and internationally. She recently performed with the MPO (Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra) during their East Malaysia tour to Sabah and Sarawak in November 2011. In addition to her performing career, she teaches at UCSI University as an adjunct lecturer. She is currently the Music Consultant of LS Music Sdn. Bhd. (Yamaha). She works closely with piano teachers thru the implementation of the Teachers Training and Advancement Programs.
